Secure Storage

Entrusting someone to store your items can be daunting, so we’ve compiled a few tips to help make packing and storing your goods simple.

1. Check what can be stored

When you choose your storage facility it's important to ask them if they prohibit any items. Generally, foods, dangerous goods and toxic materials such as gas cylinders, gasoline, ammunition, paint and explosives are not accepted. No flammable or corrosive items.

2. Pack carefully

The better you pack the more secure your items will be. We recommend double wrapping all of your items with packing paper to ensure they don't get damaged in transit or storage.

3. Label everything

Make sure you label everything, and we mean everything! The more thoroughly you label your boxes the easier it will be to unload when you get them out of storage. We also recommend keeping an inventory listing what is in each box, that way you can keep track of your belongings.

4. Use protective wraps

While some storage facilities have good ventilation it's always best to use protective wraps and coverings for your goods and furniture. These wraps will protect your items from dust and pests. We also recommend treating any timber or leather furniture before storage to avoid mould and mildew.

5. Prepare your whitegoods

Whitegoods can deteriorate in storage, so it's recommended you thoroughly clean and wash them beforehand. If possible, keep the doors slightly ajar, this will prevent the seals from weakening and smells from build up inside the appliance.
